Academia.bg | The educational revolution is on!
Academia.bg is an information database with open access e-courses provided by Bulgarian Universities, which provides educational degrees. The team consists of 5 people: a teacher at Sofia University, and four students with backgrounds in IT, law, marketing and international relations. The project is very early stage. It will monetize from a % of the taxes of the government issued exams and from premium subscribers.

Anyway | The natural way of delivering packages
AnyWay are offering an innovative alternative to Speedy, Ekont and other courier companies. It allows “Senders” the opportunity to send packages at lower prices by using the available space of people traveling to that destination anyway. “Deliverers” get paid for the transportation of the given package. The team consists of 3: a developer, a business guy and a marketing & PR specialist. The product is at idea stage. The monetization model: receiving about 50% on every transaction.

Cre8more | Enabling artists to cre8more together
Cre8more is an online platform aimed at connecting businesses with artists from all kinds of fields: design, music, video, etc. Example: a business needs a video recorded and can browse through cre8more artists’ portfolios to easily figure out what professionals they will need (eg. screenwriter, composer, operator etc.) and find them all in one place. The team consists of 2 people with experience in intellectual property, PR, marketing and management, however they thus far lack a programmer and so the project is at early stage. The monetization model is freemium.

DeXtroФOBIA Rooms | Do you have the key to the next room?
DeXtroФOBIA Rooms is a novel game-like experience for friends which allows them to spend time together completing puzzle-like challenges. The challenge is simple – you are in a strange room and you have one hour to figure out how to get out! The team consist of 5 enthusiasts – some are ‘brainstormers’ (generating ideas) and the rest are ‘dexters’ (making ideas happen). The project is very early stage. It monetizes per team in the room.

KHAN | Boosting electricity’s IQ
KHAN is an indoor smart electricity grid with intelligent cloud data processor. The team consists of 3 people, all with technical background (one is a 3Challenge alumni). The project is at idea stage with some validation and testing done. The monetization models are 5: 1) sales of hardware, 2) premium accounts, 3) info for change of energy plan or provider, 4) appliances deals, 5) sales of data.

My Expenser | Managing your cash becomes a piece of cake
My Expenser is an online social platform and a mobile application that aids users in tracking their loans and sharing common expenses. Initially the target group is university students. The platform is ready, without the final design. The team consists of 3 developers. There are several monetization methods: transaction highlights of places, eg: Petar lends Ivan money at 3Challenge cafe; selling info of spending habits of target groups to corporate buyers and context advertising.

SHUKAR Handmade | Handmade goodies!
SHUKAR Handmade is a platform that brings together handmade artists and customers through a sophisticated and easy-to-use shopping experience. The team consists of 3 with financial, marketing and web dev backgrounds. The platform is in advanced stage of development, payment methods and designer contracts signed, initial community is formed based on offline monthly events. Monetization methods – percentage fees, advertising and offline event tickets.

ThinkCard | The ultimate way to surprise your friends for their birthday
ThinkCard is a web app that will provide a customized birthday gift-card experience. It will allow people to put their personal touch when they want to give money to their friends for their birthday through original styling and messages. The team consists of 2 with backgrounds in web development and business respectively. The project is at idea stage. Monetization method – fees per order and advertising.

Venduza | Vending machines coming to life
Venduza is a vending telemetry system, helping owners of vending machines monitor the condition and receive info from the device remotely. This allows companies to cut costs on constant human monitoring of the machines, vandalism and missed revenue from broken-down machines. There is a prototype of the product already, as well as some established contacts with producers of vending machines in the country. The team consist of 2, one with technical and one with business background. The monetization method is through selling the device to vending machine producers and owners.

Yummymomy | How yummy can office food get?
Yummymomy is an online product for sharing home-cooked meals. Example: an amateur cook prepares a meal at home but has several portions extra that he will not be able to consume. Via Yummymomy he posts his offer and someone hungry for home-made food can buy it and share the expenses for the ingredients. There is already some work done on the platform. The team consists of 3 people – two developers and one business guy. The monetization model is through credits for cooks – cooks buy credits in order to be able to post offers on the website.

Albiza
Albiza is gamified learning platform which will give you the possibility to surround yourself with people with same interests like yours, read high quality articles some of which include 2.5D models and get rewards for sharing your knowledge and helping to others to resolve their problems. The team consists of two – front and back-end developers with teaching experience. They are close to releasing their beta version. Monetization is based on targeted ads.

KOKI
KOKI is an internal prediction tool for companies, based on financial market mechanics. It gets company employees to rate and predict the probability of success of each new project. The team consists of 4 people: two gamification-oriented, one developer, one handling the prediction metrics. There are some basic algorithms created so far for the project. The monetization model is selling the solution to large companies.

VELOVELO
VELOVELOis an online and offline shop for customized bicycles, which allows people to assemble the ultimate retro urban bike that best suits their individuality and tastes. The team consists of 4 people: one specializing in custom-made bikes, the other three handling business, finance and marketing. All have strong connections in the cycling community worldwide. The work done so far is conducting some initial market tests through custom-made bike sales. The monetization model is through selling custom made bikes and parts.

Schedule.bg
Schedule.bg is a scheduling platform, originally helping hairdressers keep an online calendar and post their free hours online thus allowing for online booking at their salons. The team consists of 2: one business guy, one developer. The project is very early stage. The monetization method is selling subscriptions to hairdressers.

Snug Essentials
Snug Essentials are producing luxury hand-made knitted cases for laptops, tablets, kindles etc. They employ Bulgarian grannies to knit them at very competitive fees and use only Bulgarian wool and materials. They are a team of 3 with extensive international background. So far the team has raised a little over 2000 $ from indiegogo.com for a single month. The monetization model is simple – selling products, creating a brand.

Social 365
Social365 is a corporate intranet social platform that aims to make internal communication systems more engaging and suited to young employees’ social needs and habits. There is already a demo version of the product. The team consists of two with entrepreneurial experience, the founders of sports platform myteam.bg. Main monetization method is license fee.

TestingAgents
TestingAgents.com is an online platform for usability/user experience testing services for websites. It allows website owners to observe real user reactions and behavior by showing live browsing videos provided by paid ‘test agent’ users. The team consists of 2 people – both business oriented. The product is ready and is being tested with first potential customers. The monetization method – companies willing to test their site pay per tester.

To raise the bar even further, we have opened an application window again right before the Seed stage of the tournament. Idea Winners will be joined by 3 other advanced stage startups that we have carefully selected.

E-law
E-law is a society-engaged website, which simplifies the initial, direct connection between people in need of legal help and lawyers. Users of the platform can share their legal issues and receive answers from lawyers, who in turn get an alternative channel for reaching new customers. Currently, e-law has 361 registered lawyers covering 90 cities, 738 non-lawyers, 509 inquiries and 2368 answers from lawyers on those inquiries. The team consists of five – two developers and three law students. Monetization: all lawyers can see inquiries, but only those with subscription can answer them.

Proofable
Proofable is a proofreading service that helps university students, academics and professionals improve their written work. The team is developing it into a freelance platform, which will connect their clients to the service providers (professional proofreaders). The proofable website has been live since the end of 2012 and has been generating revenue ever since, with more than 100 registered users and 1129 proofread pages. The team consists of 3 people, with business, academic and technical backgrounds respectively. Monetization is service-based at the moment and two more revenue streams will be developed together with the freelance platform – freelance transaction and proofreader account set-up fees.

KOLOS
KOLOS is the world’s first tabletop steering wheel that cradles an iPad and uses the tablet’s built-in sensors for more comfortable and realistic experience with mobile games. KOLOS has a working prototype and a patented industrial design, as well as a confirmed order of 2000 units once manufactured. The team consists of two with strong entrepreneurial and business backgrounds. Monetization will come from product sales. They need further investment (25K) to sponsor a Kickstarter campaign for initial tooling needed for manufacturing in China.

Social 365
Social365 is a corporate intranet social platform that aims to make internal communication systems more engaging and suited to young employees’ social needs and habits. It’s a corporate Facebook easily-adaptable to the needs of any company. There is already a demo version of the product and several beta-tester organizations. The team consists of two with entrepreneurial experience, the founders of sports platform MyTeam.bg. Main monetization method is license fee.

TestingAgents
TestingAgents.com is an online platform for usability/user experience testing services for websites. It allows website owners to receive feedback and observe real user reactions, behavior and comments by showing live browsing videos provided by paid ‘test agent’ users. The team consists of 3 people – 2 business-oriented and 1 developer. The product is officially launched and has more than 200 registered ‘testing agents’ and several paying customers. The monetization method – companies pay per tester video and have an additional option for analysis and consultation on-demand.
